Sofitel Lyon Bellecour

Luxurious facility next to one of the 2 rivers in Lyon - the Rhone, and Saone. All the staff we encountered were pleasant, helpful, and welcoming. Location requires a 15 euro taxi ride from the Lyon Part Dieu train station but close enough to some of the places of interest - the Place Bellecour, the furnicular station to go up to the Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourviere, and Lugdunum, the ancient Roman remains. Also close to Vieux Lyon ( the Old City) for delicious food, and 20 mins walk along the river to the amazing wall murals - Mur des Canuts & Fresque des Lyonnais First time we've come across a hotel in our many years of travel that offers free, well-stocked alcohol-free mini bar.

the staff in the hotel were exceptional. they went above and beyond to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay and got the best experience possible. we enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast on both mornings. it was an ideal location for tourists as it was right near Bellecour and was a great link to other sights in the city.

Paid small amount for upgrade to Rhone/river facing room with view. Well worth it. Large room with view and bath. Complimentary mini bar. Very very helpful informed staff. Top floor cocktail bar with panoramic views. Perfect location for walking into old town. Excellent cafe for breakfast in the next street. Many local restaurants and shops. Very good cheap public transport. People in Lyon were great.

The room was spacious with a nice spacious shower and very comfy beds. we had a fantastic dinner in the 3 domes restaurant. however, the service in the (very expensive) restaurant wasnt very attentive. we waited 10 minutes until we were welcomed by the welcome desk, had to ask the waiter to top up the wine when our glasses were empty…The chef made up for all of it though! Fab quality, fresh and super creative dishes! Parking was also very good with a spacious underground hotel car park.
